WORKSHOPS AND PERFORMANCE IN PERCUSSION, MOVEMENT, SONG, AND MORE…
WORKSHOPS
Our young community artists are delighted to share their knowledge and inspire others through their own workshop events. A central vision of the project is that as much activity as possible is youth-led, and so our experienced team of artists shadow the young people to support them if they need it.
Previous workshops have included a community taster day at Band On The Wall, a workshop for the Girl Guides, and an open workshop at Bury FC United.
“We both really enjoyed the workshop and my son was beaming from ear to ear afterwards. He has tried other instruments over the years, but as his hand function and bimanual coordination are poor, he does struggle. He is very good at internalising surdo patterns, though, and is a reliable player in a percussion band. Thanks for ensuring that he was able to participate fully. I thought the young Jubacana members led really confidently and well and do hope that the group goes from strength to strength. I may come back to you to ask them to run a workshop at some stage”.
SCHOOLS
Bring the sights and sounds of Brazil into your classroom or assembly to excite your students!- Youth leaders passing on creative talent and inspiring the next generation to get active with the arts.- Explore opportunities for your pupils to perform with Jubacana!
This collective of talented young community artists and performers (aged 11-18) are looking for equally enthusiastic schools and teachers who appreciate the value of arts-based opportunities to provide fun and meaningful cross-curricular activities for their students. Help even more young people improve their confidence, enjoy learning about the world, and experience performing to an audience to show off their talents.A number of Manchester schools are already on board having booked Jubacana to perform and deliver their own youth-led workshop activity.
